What are AKC Sanctioned Hunt Tests?
AKC Sanctioned Hunt Tests are evaluations designed to test the natural abilities and training of pointing breeds. These tests simulate hunting conditions to assess a dog's hunting skills, including pointing, retrieving, and overall behavior in the field. They exist for all levels of training - there are Junior, Senior, and Master Hunt Tests
Field Trials
What are AKC Sanctioned Field Trials?
AKC Sanctioned Field Trials are competitive events where dogs are judged on their ability to find and point game. These trials are designed to enhance and promote the hunting abilities of pointing breeds. The biggest difference between a Hunt Test and a Field Trial, is that a Field Trial is a competition - there is only 1 winner. In a Field Trial, your dog and you are putting on a performance - how your bird navigates the field, the style a dog shows on a bird or in a backing situation, its overall manners, etc...
